Insulin Analogs
Question from Bethel, Connecticut, USA:
Are there truly any differences between Humalog and Novolog? When reading previous questions, it looks like the two are interchangeable. Do I interpret this correctly? What benefit, if any, might a Humalog user have if switched to Novolog?
Answer:
No direct comparative studies yet published between Humalog and Novolog. Both are quite similar, but there may be minor differences with different preservatives or diluents, and they might have slightly difference action curves. Time will tell if there are more similarities or differences. Availability and cost may be bigger factors in the coming months until the competitive markets re-arrange themselves.
