Question from St. Louis, Missouri, USA:

Can prednisone cause an elevated blood glucose in people who do not have diabetes? Is that a normal side effect or does this only occur in those with diabetes, diagnosed or not?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Moderately elevated blood sugars are commonly seen when one takes prednisone — even when they do not have diabetes. Persistent high blood sugars off of prednisone should be concerning.
