Since Toronto has always been a major research center on all types of diabetes, you might begin your search by visiting the Banting And Best Diabetes Centre site, and you could expand it by searching Google under ‘Canadian diabetes clinical trials’. It would help you though to clarify exactly what your objective is. Are you wanting a general overview of the newest clinical ideas? In this case, PubMed might help or even seeing if your doctor had been to the latest meeting of the American Diabetes Association and could lend you his book of abstracts (over 2000). On the other hand you may be wanting to enroll in a specific project such as the islet cell transplantation program in Edmonton or a trial off Protein Kinase C inhibitor for early retinal problems which would almost certainly have a center in Toronto or Montreal.

There is no central registry in Canada, the US or elsewhere. However, your physicians should be aware of what is available in your area. A phone call to the nearest big university center diabetes unit would also be reasonable as might be the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation local chapters.
