Question from Iowa, USA:

Does diabetes or insulin have anything to do with body temperature? Sometimes for no reason I get really hot or really cold. I am a 32 year old female who has had type 1 diabetes for 20 years.

From: DTeam Staff

Diabetes really has very little effect on body temperature. However, about 10% of people with Type 1 diabetes eventually develop problems with their thyroid gland which can make you heat or cold intolerant. I would review this with your diabetes team.
