Question from Melbourne, Australia:
Does Isomalt (a sugar substitute) have an effect on blood glucose levels ?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
Isomalt is a sugar substitute that is a mixture of two sugar alcohols derived from sucrose. Unlike other sweeteners such as aspartame, it has the consistency of ordinary cane sugar, but it is poorly absorbed and in consequence has only a small effect on blood sugar.
