Question from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA:
My son was just diagnosed with type 1 on December, 7 2006. He has always been pretty healthy, rarely needing an antibiotic. He was not sick before diagnosis, but he did have a flu shot right before Thanksgiving. Could the flu shot have caused his diabetes? Looking back, he probably started showing symptoms five to seven days after the shot. Also, he had a wart show up on his toe a few days after diagnosis. Could the virus that causes a wart cause diabetes?

There is no correlation between the flu shot and diabetes. Similarly, there is no correlation between the virus that causes warts and diabetes.
