I have gestational diabetes. How soon after you eat should to test your blood? Should it be an hour after you began to eat or and hour after you have finished? Or is it two hours?

It turns out that in gestational diabetes, the best time to test is one hour after you start eating in order to prevent macrosomia (large babies). In pregnancy, blood sugar should be tested first thing in the morning (fasting) and should be less than 90 mg/dl [5 mmol/L], and one hour after starting each meal, it should be less than 130-140 mg/dl [7.2-7.8 mmol/L] (depending on who you talk to).
