Question from Riverside, California, USA:

I have had type 1 diabetes for 12 years, and sometimes when I go low in my sleep, I can’t snap out of a spell. I can’t function right (blurred vision, poor hearing, and not wanting to cooperate). I usually snap out and realize I’m low about 20 minutes later. Is this normal in teenagers with diabetes?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Having occasional lows with those symptoms is a normal part of having diabetes.
