Question from Biddeford, Maine, USA:
I have high blood sugar and sleep apnea. Can either of these cause or have anything to do with diabetes? I have been told that one has nothing to do with the other.

There are very few causes of high blood sugar other than diabetes. If you have a high blood sugar, I would suggest seeing your physician right away to review the likelihood of diabetes. Diabetes is usually not related to sleep apnea, although it is associated with obesity which can be common in people with type 2 diabetes.
