Question from Toronto, Ontario, Canada:

I have read recently that the American College of Obstetricians says that a pregnant woman may fly up to her 36th week of gestation, but a pregnant woman with diabetes should not fly. Can you explain why? This makes no sense to me, especially if she is in good control.

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

If you have diabetes, you can fly.

[Editor’s comment: Two additional thoughts: 1) Check with your physician for specific advice about flying during pregnancy, and 2) read Flying With Diabetes Supplies.
