Question from Glendale, Oregon, USA:
I have type 2 diabetes treated with Glucophage [metformin], and I have noticed that my urine is very strong smelling. Could this be associated with having diabetes?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
The urine is a source of waste products discarded by the body. This sometimes carries waste from foods and medications that also may carry a strong odor. The presence of a strong odor, by itself, is not specific for diabetes. This may be the result of the medication or foods you eat.
