Question from :

I heard that if your adrenal glands are out of whack, your blood sugars could be out of whack. Is there a test to see?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Your physician can order laboratory tests that directly or indirectly measure adrenal function. If the problem is very advanced, sophisticated testing is not necessary. If the problem is early or partial, more sophisticated dynamic testing may be required. Please consult your physician for any additional discussion.

[Editor’s comment: Yes, you did hear correctly: overactivity of the adrenal glands (Cushing’s syndrome) may be associated with elevated blood sugar levels, and the converse: underactivity (Addison’s disease) may be associated with hypoglycemia.
