Question from Petersburg, Indiana, USA:
I read somewhere that chocolate wasn’t good in treating hypoglycemia, but I can’t find the information now. What was the reasoning?

Chocolate is not an ideal treatment for hypoglycemia because the fat and protein content of the chocolate slow down the glucose absorption. Glucose tabs, glucose gels or fruit juices are a better choice to raise blood sugar quickly. Do not eat any fat or protein until after you have confirmed that your blood sugar is in normal range after treating a low.
