Question from Longview, Washington, USA:

My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes seven months ago, and her blood sugars were fairly well under control with the insulin, but she is not gaining weight like she should be despite eating six times a day, and her thyroid test was abnormal. What should I do?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

I don’t have the actual tests to be able comment on specific tests, etc. I would ask her doctor to refer you to a pediatric endocrinologist to review the data and make specific diagnoses, if indicated.
