Question from Nova Scotia, Canada:

My 16 year old nephew has type 1 diabetes, and his urine is very sticky on the bathroom floor. Is he taking too much insulin, or eating too much sugar?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Sugar appears in the urine when the blood sugar is greater than 180 mg/dl [10 mmol/L]. Most teens have blood sugars this high occasionally, and at those times, will have sugar in their urine.
