My five-year-old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in February 2008. She tested positive only to GAD 2. All other tests were negative. Is this “normal” diabetes?

The antibody tests are mostly interesting for research purposes, not for treatment. If any of the antibodies are positive, this usually suggests type 1 autoimmune diabetes and confirms the need for insulin.
