Hypoglycemia
Question from Brooklet, Georgia, USA:
My five year old granddaughter has low blood sugar, and if she does not eat right after waking up, she has passed out and also has a terrible temper at times. Most times she is a sweet child, but then she will become very uncontrollable. She is not on any medication at this time. Is this behavior due to her low blood sugar? How can we help her?
Answer:
Her behaviour could be due to low blood sugar, but this depends upon the problem that she has that causes her sugars to fall. The majority of such problems are related to night-time or early morning low sugars, and symptoms and don’t account for behaviour problems during the day. Seek specific advice from her specialist.
