Question from Boca Raton, Florida USA:
My grandfather, who has diabetes treated with pills, also has non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and his doctors want to put him on prednisone which will make his sugar requiring insulin therapy. His two doctors seem to disagree. What problems are there with prednisone in a person with type 2 diabetes?
Answer:

It is likely as not if he takes prednisone he will need insulin injections too to control the glucose, and his diabetes will need to be controlled if they decide to use prednisone and the glucose goes high.
