My grandson has complained to me lately that it feels like he has sand in his feet. When he says this, he has his shoes and socks on. He is healthy and we are always checking his blood sugar trying to keep it regulated. What causes this feeling?

It might be diabetic neuropathy even though it’s very rare at this age and with such a short duration of the disease. Ask your grandson’s pediatrician for the name of a neurologist for a consultation.
