Insulin pumps don’t make people care for themselves, monitor correctly nor eat properly. If someone cannot eat in a safe and reasonable fashion, then insulin pumps won’t solve this problem – and would only be a very expensive way to care for one’s diabetes. Your niece’s diabetes team should be consulted to see if she is a good candidate for an insulin pump or not. Her folks need to be part of this process, of course.
