Question from England:
My seven ear old son has had type1 diabetes for four years. When he has episodes of high blood sugars, he develops repeated infections and thrush under his foreskin. What can be done to prevent this? Should he be circumcised?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
The best way to prevent this is to have good glucose control. However, even after having done this, there can still be problems. If you have tried regular washing, and cleansing, sometimes the next step is circumcision. You should discuss this with your diabetes team who may put you in touch with a urologist if necessary.
