Honeymoon

Question from Egypt:

My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes two weeks ago. His blood sugar was 385 mg/dl [21.4 mmol/L]. He was hospitalized for one week and is taking insulin shots. Now, his blood sugars are very low and we are reducing his insulin. Is this a honeymoon period or there is another test to be done? His A1c was 7.3.

This is most probably already the beginning of the diabetes “honeymoon” phase. It implies to me that your son’s diabetes was diagnosed early along the course.
