Question from Simi Valley, California, USA:

I am wondering whether there is an organization out there doing research for a cure for diabetes in areas which are not considered immoral? Many organizations have several going on, one of which includes embryonic stem cell. Since we have a daughter with diabetes, we want to donate money for research, but not to organizations funding research using embryonic stem cells. Does one exist? Can we specifically target our money for islet cell or adult stem cell research?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

The Children with Diabetes Foundation funds research to find a cure for type1 diabetes that does not involve the use of human embryonic stem cells. Current funding includes work being done in New Zealand with porcine islet implants.
