Complications, Type 2
Question from United States:
What is known about kidney failure for those with type 2 diabetes? What physical exercise do we need to control it? Do people with type 2 have blood pressure problems?
Answer:
There are recommendations for follow-up of kidney function. Each year, your physician should obtain measures of kidney function from blood and urine testing. These tests determine whether you are showing any evidence of changes. In addition, you should have your blood pressure checked at every appointment you have with your physician. A blood pressure level of 130/80 is the suggested maximum blood pressure. If your blood pressure is above this, you need to see your physician to discuss treatment to lower the blood pressure. Exercise does have an effect to lower blood pressure over time. Providing you can exercise regularly and without medical restrictions, exercise is important as a lifestyle choice for people with diabetes. Exercise can include walking, jogging, biking, swimming, or any other activities.
