Question from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA:

What is the difference between semolina pasta and regular pasta? Is it really healthier? I checked the labels on both the regular pasta and semolina pasta and they were the same. What is the best pasta if you have to cut out sugar?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Semolina refers to the hard wheat that is used to make the pasta. The texture of the products may differ depending on the wheat used to make it. Unless a pasta is made out of whole wheat or a vegetable the nutritive value is about the same. Pasta is a starch, so it does not have sugar in it. Sometimes pasta sauces have sugar added. Look on the label of prepared pasta sauce to see how much sugar is used.
