What would be the most practical insulin regimen (used in Europe) for a 18 month old, diagnosed four months ago?

The real answer to this question is ‘the regimen that suits the child best.’ However, I think you are asking for more pragmatic advice. In the UK, the normal regimen would be twice daily mixed insulin or mixed insulin in the morning with soluble before the evening meal and isophane before bed. In Scandinavia, this would more probably be multiple (basal/bolus) injection therapy. However, any team would base decisions on regimen upon the results of blood sugar testing and the appetite/diet of the child.
