Question from United Kingdom:
Which age groups are most commonly diagnosed with type one diabetes? Are there more children or adults diagnosed, generally?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
The major peak is still peri-puberty, i.e., 9 to 14 year olds with a slightly lower, but still another evident peak, occurring around five to seven years of age. The past two decades have seen increases in earlier diagnosis in the pre-seven-year-old groups in many parts of the world accompanying generalized increases in numbers in rich as well as poorer countries without very good explanations scientifically.
