Which of the following fruits, vegetables and grains should a person with diabetes not eat on a daily basis? Apples, cherries, cranberries, dates, oranges, papayas, peaches, pineapple, prunes, oats, beet root, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, kale, parsley, spinach, tomato, and barley.
If all the sugar and sodium is taken out of all of the food, does that make a difference? Would something like this be appropriate in a daily meal plan for people with diabetes?
Answer:
I need more information on the foods and their preparation, but basically all of these foods can be eaten as part of a meal plan for someone with diabetes. Whether the foods contain sugar or not would probably only matter with regard to portion size. The sodium or salt content should not matter, unless there is some other medical conditions. Your best bet would be to contact a local dietitian familiar with these foods, their preparation, and how to incorporate them into an individualized meal plan.
