Why during labor does mother with diabetes who is experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms get both insulin and glucose? Why not just glucose as you would normally do?

I agree. If someone is hypoglycemia, then they should be getting glucose, not insulin. However, often during labor, women with diabetes are receiving insulin intravenously. If the blood sugar drops, then the insulin is turned off and extra glucose is added. So, even if the insulin line is hooked up to the mother in labor, there may be no infusion going in.
