I was misdiagnosed by my pediatrician with allergic rhinitis and GERD. No one thought to do urine test or labs. I kept getting sicker. My Mom rushed me to the local children’s hospital on the evening of April 14th 2015. I was eleven years old and thought that I might die. I fainted while registering and was rushed to a room where a team of five people started to work on me. I was in DKA with a blood sugar of 980. My organs were shutting down. I am very grateful and thankful for the wonderful hospital team and my Mom. I am ten years in this journey with type 1 diabetes. There are days better than others. Life is filled with decisions and choices. I try to make the best ones for myself everyday and brave through the literal highs and lows and be T1 strong.
