Diagnosed at 12 was a shock for a young lady, but she championed through it. She actually gave herself her first insulin shot in the emergency room. How many 12 years old do that? She has handled herself with elegance and grace, and has encouraged other children that have also been diagnosed with T1D. She has never let T1D stop her or become an excuse for leading a normal life. Alex graduated high school with high honors, and has gone on to be a valuable employee at a retail store. She teaches a Sunday School class, enjoys cruising, and spending time with her dogs, and loves her four nieces.
