Asher

From his mom, Lyndsey:

Asher was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 10 months old. He had been sick for a couple of weeks and did not know the signs of T1. He stopped nursing and I knew something was wrong. I drove him to the hospital and he collapsed as I carried him into the ER. He was quickly rushed to a room and surrounded by nurses and doctors as they ran every test they could. Sadly, the day before the staff had lost another child to Type 1 and the doctor on call recognized the signs. I believe this is what saved his life. I’m grateful for the staff that saved him. He was one of the youngest patients that they had ever dealt with and it was weeks/months of guessing how to care for him because he was nursing and not eating table food.

Type 1 Diabetes is all Asher has ever known. It is a daily struggle. While modern medicine has made it better the days can be hard and frustrating. I can’t believe we are celebrating 10years of bravery with our sweet boy. He and his sister (diagnosed a few years later) are some of the strongest people I know.
