My type 1 diabetes journey has been quite the ride! Diagnosed at age 5 was a blessing though because I don’t remember what life was like before then so managing my care has been all I know! I can’t remember life without blood sugar testing, multiple daily injections, etc. I started out with peeing on a stick to check my blood sugar and taking MDI and advancements have come a long way. I’m currently using a CGM and Insulin Pump which has made my life 100x easier. I wish this technology was around when I was first diagnosed. My last a1c was 6 and I continue to have no serious complications other than some minor neuropathy. It’s now been almost 35 years with type 1 diabetes and I wish there was a cure and maybe one day there will be! But I’m continuing to live my best life by staying active and taking care of myself!
