I was diagnosed with brittle Juvenile Diabetes. My mom was a Medical Technologist, and picked up on it. My BS was around 1200 when I was admitted to the hospital. I stayed two weeks and could give my own shots by practicing on an orange, per my parents telling me. I don’t really remember, lol. I have been on the Medtronic Pump for almost 30 years, and am currently on the latest version, the 780G with Smartguard technology. I recently became a Medtronic Ambassador in the hopes of speaking to others about the importance of self-care. I would really love to help at a diabetes camp for kids. On June 1st of this year, I celebrated my 53rd Diaversary! I work out daily lifting weights and kickboxing. I am married to an amazing husband and have awesome son, who will turn 34 this fall. He is married to the most amazing and encouraging wife, who I proudly call my daughter-in-love. I have a stepson engaged to a wonderful girl. Diabetes does no define me, and I’m proud to be a survivor.
