When I was diagnosed at 13 it was the hardest thing for me. For years I struggled to take care of myself and doctors always reminded me of all the complications I was potentially facing because of my poor management of this disease. Eventually I met and connected with other T1Ds which helped me immensely. This support inspired me to start taking control of this disease. It was also helpful with CGMs and their integration with insulin pumps. These days my control is a amazing, I have no complications and I feel like this disease no longer rules my life.
