I look back on how much diabetes care has changed just in the time I’ve experienced it, and it completely blows my mind. I started off trying to manage life with the ticking time bomb that is NPH insulin, and here I am now with my glucose sensor communicating with my insulin pump to keep my blood sugar in range. I’ve gotten to experience these advances because I have had the privilege of insurance coverage and access to quality diabetes care. These advances mean little until all are able to access them regardless of income or coverage or location. Let’s keep raising our voices so that this can happen in our lifetimes.
