I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in September of 2011. I had no idea why I was losing weight so quickly. My doctor assumed it was a stomach bug that was making me really sick. They didn’t bother to check me until my mom decided to take me to the ER and then transferred to a children’s hospital. My blood sugar was in the high 300s and they saved my life.
