It was a normal 4th of July night enjoying the fireworks when suddenly I felt sick and had to go home. It wasn’t until July 9th I finally got into the doctor’s office where they realized my sugar was just reading HIGH on their meters. They sent me to the emergency room at 12 years old with no idea of what diabetes was. I left that hospital and went to a better one for a few days where I was then released with a near learning curve — diabetes. Over 10 years later and I’ve learned a lot but there’s always more to learn!
