Griffin

From his mom, Andrea:

Griffin was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of two. At that time, it was difficult for Griffin to understand what that meant. He quickly learned that there were a lot of pokes, changes to his diet, interrupted sleep, and mom and dad were keeping a very close eye on him. As time went on Griffin learned that diabetes was a part of his life but it didn’t define it. Griffin is very active and loves to play sports. He is very involved in baseball and basketball and is very talented at both. There are definitely ups and downs with managing diabetes but Griffin has exhibited strength, courage, and determination through it all. Now at the age of 13, Griffin is becoming more independent in managing his diabetes. As his mother, I’m am so proud of how he handles it all. Type 1 diabetes is no easy feat and individuals living with type 1 deserve to be recognized. Everyday we hope and pray for a cure, which would be the ultimate gift!
