When I was diagnosed 50 years ago in 1973, the literature was promoting the fact that now diabetics were living 50 years with diabetes (insulin discovered in 1922). I thought at the time, “50 years…I can do that!” It’s hard to believe that 18,250 days have passed, and in my case, in every one of those days, diabetes just included a daily routine that (for the most part) easily became a part of my lifestyle.
