My journey with T1D started before I could even remember anything. I’ve heard what led to my diagnosis from my parents over the years and it never ceases to amaze me. I have struggled for many years with caring for myself and handling my diabetes, but after 22 years, finding the system that works for me, and building my own support system I have finally made it to a point in my diabetes where I feel confident in my ability to care for myself. It has not been easy nor is it going to go away, but I am proud of the progress that I have made since childhood, adolescence, even since last year. It’s been a long road and an even longer road still but I am ready to keep going.
