I was always a chubby kid and right after my family and I moved to a new city in the middle of my 7th grade year I started losing a lot of weight. Family thought it was just stress from moving, but I was just getting skinnier and skinnier until I got down to about 98 pounds. My dad took me to the Dr. and they admitted me immediately with a blood sugar of almost 900! Through out my many years I’ve had trials and tribulations and didn’t alway take the best care of myself. Unfortunately that lead to me going into kidney failure and now on dialysis. Today I strive to take the best care of myself as I wait for a double transplant. I am finally taking control of my diabetes and got my A1C down to the lowest I’ve ever seen it at 5.2! Crazy to think I’ve had diabetes for over 20 years, but I really do think it’s made me the strong woman I am today!
