From his mom, Melita:
Our son, Kendrick, was diagnosed at the age of eight. We were multiple daily injections until he received his pump in 2020. He played flag football, ran races, tackle football, and at the age of 16 he became a volunteer fire fighter. He had thought he would go into the military but after the diagnosis he switched to a different type of hero and hopes to apply to our local city fire academy right after he graduates high school this year. He has been quite responsible, he works hard in school, and holds a job. We are proud of him and hope he continues to watch himself as he is almost an adult during the type 1 journey.
