Mason

Mason was a healthy and happy 10 year old when diabetes changed our lives. Caring for him was more challenging than when I first brought him home as a newborn. With the support of the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi and concerned school nurses, Mason was soon able to monitor his own glucose levels and administer insulin. Over the last ten years Mason has been fortunate to attend numerous camps and workshops catered to the educational needs surrounding type one diabetes. As a teenager my son became a camp counselor for several years and now as a young adult has been chided to speak on many platforms regarding his experiences with this illness. We are grateful for all of the support and technological advances that have been made available since his diagnosis. Although Mason chooses to remain on MDI, we are amazed of the relief that electronic devices can afford. My son and I are grateful for each blessing we’ve received throughout this journey and are committed to helping others that join us along the way. I’m sharing a photo from hospital discharge day in January 2014 and proud to report that he’s had no inpatient admissions since.
