Watching Nathaniel’s T1D diagnosis at the fragile age of seven years old was heartbreaking. It was like having a newborn all over again that I had to keep alive, literally, life or death everyday. Nathaniel is an individual that had tried many things- soccer, marching band, weight training and is now actively working towards a hopeful career in EMT/Fire Fighting. Why? Because, he’s remarkable. A true hero that you wouldn’t know has suffered the highs and lows for the last decade. Although the diagnosis was heartbreaking, I know that the T1D journey has grown him to be the young man he is today. We are so proud of him!
