Sadie
From her mom, Jodie:
While enjoying being a third grade little girl, I noticed Sadie start drinking lots of water. I mean lots and lots of water. We went to the pediatrician a few days later and learned of her new life. We were all devastated-however she never shed a tear. We all shed enough for her but her strength and resilience through those first few months was nothing short of amazing. Sadie has had many ups and downs with diabetes. However, she has not let it stop her. She has done everything and anything she ever wanted to do. All while still smiling when there were many days she didn’t want to smile because of diabetes. Sadie has never let diabetes be who she is. The first few years she would get looks and stares at her devices, crazy questions ( like oh…is that your sunscreen dispenser – referring to her Omnipod) and she handled them all with grace and as a way to teach others that may not know about “diabeetus”. Sadie has enjoyed meeting other children and adults just like her through Camp Seale Harris and being a role model for some of the younger ones as well. To say this life has been easy is and understatement-to say she has done amazing with her 10 year journey so far is an accomplishment. One that makes me so proud to call her my daughter – my Type 1 Warrior ❤️
