Samuel
From his mother, Jill:
Samuel was diagnosed as a sophomore in college 800 miles away from home! When he called and gave me his symptoms I said, “You’re diabetic.” He said, “I think you’re right because I Googled my symptoms.” I knew the symptoms because a childhood friend was diagnosed in the fifth grade. The next day he went to college doctor and he had 800 blood sugars, not sure if he had type 1 or type 2 diabetes. We flew him home so he could go to Texas Children’s Hospital. He spent three days in the hospital and was at home until Sunday and was back at school the next week. He was lucky to meet a few people to teach him it was possible to live with T1. To make a long story short, he graduated in four years, has had the same job for the last six years, got married to his college sweetheart, and now she pregnant w his first child. It was not always easy but his A1C is the best it’s ever been.
