I was diagnosed when I was seven years old. It was a very interesting time of my life. The morning of the day I got diagnosed I was not acting like myself. I wasn’t feeling well and my mom knew something was wrong. After she took me into the hospital they checked my blood sugar, and I was over 1000! I was then transported to Children’s Mercy where I stayed there for a week. A lot of my family visited me and gave me gifts and “Get Well Soon” cards. After my hospital trip I was able to go home. I was then on shots for two years, and then transferred to a t-slim pump and a Dexcom! It has been one of the greatest decisions ever. Living with diabetes is difficult I won’t lie, but with the right support and help it is possible to conquer!
