Tyler
From his mom, Stephanie:
Tyler was diagnosed with T1D mid January during his freshman year of high school. We were being pounded by record snow that winter and on a campout the week before with Boy Scouts I can recall laying on the frozen lake with Tyler looking down into the frozen-ness. The very next Saturday we were at Boston Children’s Hospital learning all about his new role—a stand in pancreas! He took everything in stride and was a star student quickly mastering his carb ratios, insulin calculations, etc. The journey ahead was anything but easy, but he, along with his amazing support at Children’s, friends, teammates, school angels that looked out for him, coaches and of course family were all by his side through the highs and lows over the next few years. He never skipped a beat “because of diabetes” but rather found the path “with diabetes.”
