Question from Virginia, USA:
Can kidney infections produce ketones in the urine with normal blood sugars?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
Any infection can precipitate ketones in a person with diabetes. In addition, you can have nearly normal blood sugars and still produce some ketones, although it is much more common to have higher blood sugars. It is important to check ketones frequently whenever you have an infection of any type, abdominal pain, or vomiting.
